Taura

Taura local government area is found in Jigawa state, North-west Nigeria with the headquarters of the LGA in the town of Taura. Towns and villages that make up Taura LGA include Buluranawa, Chukutu, Yanyanga, Bardo, Ajura, Gujungu, Maje, and Kiri. The current estimated population of Taura LGA is put at 184,713 inhabitants with the area mostly occupied by the members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups. The languages of Hausa and Fufulde are widely spoken in theLGA while  the religion of Islam is commonly practiced in the area. Taura LGA is a part of the prestigious Ringim Emirate and the notable landmarks in the area include the Taura General Hospital.

Taura LGA occupies a total area of 653 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 33 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses both the dry and the rainy seasons with the average humidity level in the area put at 25 percent.

ECONOMY OF TAURA

Trade is an important economic activity in Taura LGA with the area hosting a number of markets such as the popular Gujungu International Market where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. Other important economic activities undertaken by the people of Taura LGA include farming, hunting, and pottery.
