About Isuikwuato Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Isuikwuato local government area is in Abia state which is domiciled in the Southeast geopolitical enclave of Nigeria. The LGA is made up of several towns and villages such as Ohaise, Imenyi, Ezere, Uturu, Umunnekwu, Mbaugwu, Isu Amawu, and Ndiagidi. The estimated population of Isuikwuato LGA is 134,568 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s dwellers being from the Igbo ethnic division. The Igbo language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Christianity is widely practiced in the area. Popular festivals held in Isuikwuato LGA include the Ajonkwu festival while thje notable landmarks in the area include the Abia state University Uturu and the Uhuchukwu cave in Ahabamenyi.

Isiukwuato LGA witnesses two distinct seasons and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The average wind speed in the LGA is 10 km/h while the average humidity level of the area is 64 percent.


ECONOMY OF ISUIKWUATO

A number of mineral resources are found in Isuikwuato LGA and these include Iron ore and Kaolin. Farming is also a critical part of the economy of the LGA with crops such as cashew, yam, and oil palm grown in substantially large quantities within the LGA. Other important economic activities undertaken by the people of isiukwuato LGA include trade and wood work.
