About Ibarapa East Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Ibarapa east LGA is domiciled in Oyo state, Southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Eruwa with the LGA made up of towns and villages such as Eruwa, Lanlate, and Anko. Notable traditional rulers in Ibarapa east LGA include the Eleruwa of Eruwa and the Onilala of Lanlate. Ibarapa east LGA hosts the Ibarapa Northeast Local Council Development Area. The estimated population of Ibarapa east LGA is 119,042 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Yoruba ethnic group. The Yoruba language is predominantly spoken in the area while the religions of Christianity and Islam are commonly practiced in the LGA. Notable landmarks in Ibarapa east LGA include the Eruwa Polytechnic.

Ibarapa east LGA covers a total area of 838 square kilometres and has a landscape characterized by several hills. The average temperature of the LGA is 28 degrees centigrade while the area has an average humidity level of 60 percent. Average wind speed in Ibarapa central LGA is 9 km/h.


ECONOMY OF IBARAPA EAST

Agriculture s the major contributor to the economy of Ibarapa east LGA with several crops such as yam, maize, oil palm, and melon cultivated in the area. The area also hosts several markets where the residents of the area go to buy and sell a wide variety of commodities.

HISTORY OF IBARAPA EAST

Ibarapa east LGA was created in the year 1996 from the Ifeloju LGA.
