About Numan Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Numan local government area is situated within Adamawa state, North-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Numan LGA comprises of several towns and villages which include Vulpi, Bare, Shelleng, Libbo Dutse, Bakta, Kiri, and Bodwai. The estimated population of Numan LGA is put at 185,972 inhabitants with the area mostly populated by members of the Bwatiye ethnic group. The Bachama language is commonly spoken in Numan LGA with the religions of Islam and Christianity practiced in the area. The traditional ruler of the Inhabitants of Numan LGA is known as the Hama Bachama while notable landmarks in the LGA include the Adamawa state Polytechnic.


GEOGRAPHY OF NUMAN

Numan LGA is the site of the confluence of the Benue and Gongola Rivers and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average humidity level of 18 percent.


ECONOMY OF NUMAN

Farming is a key economic activity in Numan LGA with crops such as groundnut, cowpea, sorghum, and millet grown in the area. A number of animals such as cows, donkeys, and goats are reared and sold in the LGA. Trade also flourishes in Numan LGA with the area hosting several markets which provide platforms for the exchange of a variety of commodities. Other important economic activities in Numan LGA include hunting and leather works.
