About Magama Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Magama local government area is in Niger state, North-central Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Nasko. The town and villages that make up Magama LGA include Auna, Kanfani, Kawo, Madalu, Nnali, Amale, Asaya, and Ibelu. The current estimated population of Magama LGA is put at 212,401 inhabitants with the area mainly populated by members of the Kambari ethnic group. The Kambari language is widely spoken in the area while the religions of Islam and Christianity are commonly practiced in the LGA.


GEOGRAPHY OF MAGAMA

Magama LGA covers a total area of 4107 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 31 degrees centigrade. The area witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average humidity level in Magama LGA is put at 39 percent while the average wind speed in the area is estimated at 10 km/h.


ECONOMY OF MAGAMA

Farming is an important economic activity in Magama LGA with a variety of crops such as cowpea and sugarcane grown in the area. Trade also flourishes in Magama LGA with the area hosting several markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. Other important economic activities in Magama LGA include pottery, leather works, and woodworks.
