About Tafa Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Tafa local government area is found in Niger state, North-central geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Wuse and the LGA shares boundaries with parts of the FCT. Towns and villages that make up Tafa LGA include Zuma, Jakoro, Iku, Garam, Ija, Wuse, Dogan kurmi, and New Bwari. The current estimated population of Tafa LGA is put at 159,005 inhabitants with the area mainly inhabited by members of ethnic affiliations such as the Gbagyi, the Koro and the Hausa. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in Tafa LGA while the religions of Christianity and Islam are mostly practiced in the LGA.


GEOGRAPHY OF TAFA

Tafa LGA occupies a total area of 222 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 31 degrees centigrade. The LGA has an average humidity level of 30 percent while the total precipitation in the LGA is put at 1650 mm of rainfall per annum.


ECONOMY OF TAFA

Trade is an important aspect of the economy of Tafa LGA with the area hosting several markets which include the Gauraka market where a number of goods are bought and sold.  Other important economic activities engaged in by the people of Tafa LGA include farming, animal rearing, hunting, pottery, crafts making, and wood carving.
