The Federal College of Land Resources Technology Owerri (previously known as Federal Soil Conservation College Owerri) was established by the Government of Nigeria by virtue of a Federal Government of Nigeria official circular with Ref No: ALR-S.47/T/581.

A change of name was effected on the 21st of March, 2000. The renaming of the College and its counterpart in Jos to Federal College of Land Resources Technology brought the schools directly under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture....
