Government Science and Technical College Gombe has grown from a humble beginning in 1977 when it stated as an Artisan Training Centre with the sole aim of giving students skilled training in woodwork and building trades. From 1980 to 2002, the college was converted to a Vocational Training Centre thus assuming the status of a Junior secondary School. Courses were offered in five trades in addition to the general education subjects.
