Ibrahim Idris Early Life

Idris grew up in Omala, Kogi State. He however moved to Onitsha, Anambra State in 1954, where he started his primary education. In 1962, he moved to Kano, where he completed his primary education in 1963. He moved to Buguma in Rivers State where he enrolled in King’s Commercial College in 1964. He had his tertiary education at the Abuja university.

Upon the completion of his education, Idris launched the Ibro Trading Company, which has greatly expanded to include interests in construction, furniture making, hotels and other activities. In 1970, he moved to Sokoto where he set up the Ibrahim Furniture Factory, the largest in Sokoto State, and later the Ibro Hotel, the first 3-star hotel in the old Sokoto State.

After joining politics, he was elected as the governor of Kogi State in 2003 under the umbrella of th People's Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected in April 2007, an elcetion that was nullifid by the court. He however, won the rerun election in March 2008.

In April 2017, the former governor of Kogi state popularly known as Ibro of Ibro hotels dumped his wife of five years for a 20 year old Camerounian girl. Her name is Aisha Amal daughter of a Kano based cattle rearer. A husband of over 13 wives, his former first lady Hajia Zainab was herself not an exception,The only woman who stayed longest and bore him 6 children was also abandoned after his tenure as a governor. She had to move to a smaller apartment in the suburb of Abuja built by one of her sons before she later passed away.His first son is called Abubakar Idris.
