Adeyeye Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi was born on October 17th, 1974 to the royal family of Aderopo Ogunwusi and late Wuraola Ogunwusi of the Giesi Royal House, Agbedegbede Compound in the city of Ile-Ife. His father was a radio and television anchor star that spanned the entire mid-1980s to early 21st century in the South-Western part of Nigeria.
Ogunwusi is an accountant and the 51st Ooni of Ile-Ife. The last Ooni from his family was Ooni Drin Ologbenla (1880-1894). Ooni Ogunwusi assumed the title of Ojaja (II). Ojaja (I) was from Agbedegbede Compound, Iremo Quarters (the ancestral home of the Giesi).

Ooni Ogunwusi is the fifth of his father's seven children. His father, Prince Ropo Ogunwusi, a veteran broadcaster. He is the third son in a family of six and has three sisters.
He started his education at Subuola Memorial Nursery and Primary School, Ibadan and Ibadan District Council, Akobo, Ibadan. He attended Loyola College Ibadan between 1985 and 1991. Afterwards, he attended The Polytechnic Ibadan to study Accounting.
The ambitious Young Prince with exceptional savvy business ideas delved into Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) locally and abroad for over 12 years. He is also actively involved in the development of over 2,500 housing units with various consortia of developers within the last 8 years. In Nigeria, He set up and fostered strong trade relationships through the Association for International Business (AIB) with presence in over 200 member countries across the globe.
He developed one of the best resorts in Nigeria, leading a team that opened up a remote jungle called Inagbe Island in Amuwo Odofin LGA, Lagos. His vision and creativity transformed Inagbe island into a whole new community offering spectacular world class relaxation and recreational facilities. The multi-billion naira Inagbe Grand Resorts and Leisure, Lagos Nigeria is the first of its kind in the whole of West Africa bounded by the Lagos Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. It was launched in December 13th, 2013.
Ogunwusi was also involved in the trading and marketing of commodities as the main facilitator for Dangote Group’s break into the ‘up-country supply chain consortium’ between 1996 and 1999. To mention a few, he also traded for Dohagro Allied, Global Apex, Olam, Clemco, Stallion Group and Milan Group at about the same period. This was where he gained his expertise in marketing which till date is one of his major strengths. He also facilitated the biggest Lead and Aluminum recycling plant set up in Nigeria by the National Steel Company of India in Ota, Ogun State.
He began his strides in the Real Estate sector with various dredging and land reclamation projects in Lagos State. Prince Adeyeye is the initiator of Essential Homes, a real estate product launched in January 2014 formed to deliver affordable upscale homes to the middle and low income earners. The 1st phase of the product (The South pointe Estate, Lafiaji Road, Lekki, Lagos State), started in February 2014. He also led the team that developed the prestigious Lagos.
In addition, Prince Adyeye has successfully undertaken more multi-billion Naira projects across Lagos and its environs; Jacob Mews Estate Yaba , Lakeview Park I and II Estates Lekki the ongoing Golden Leaf Estate Lafiaji Lekki and Grand Lake Estate Ajah, Lagos. The Lord’s Estate which is in patnership with Oba Adedapo Tejuosho, the piling of Lagos Homes, Ilubirin, Lagos and the upcoming Ife Grand Resort and Leisure.
He was MD/CEO of Gran Imperio Group (GIG), a formidable real estate consortium in Nigeria. He also successfully undertook multi-million dollar projects in Nigeria including the legendary Inagbe Grand Resorts & Leisure, Lagos Nigeria. He was a Director, Imperial Homes Mortgage Bank Limited, (formerly GTHomes), a leading National Mortgage Bank and former subsidiary of GTBank and also Director, FinaTrust Microfinance Bank Limited, one of Nigeria’s foremost Microfinance Banks focusing on SMEs and micro credit facilities.
As an accountant, Oba Ogunwusi is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an Associate Accounting Technician. He is also a certified member of the Institute of Directors and a member of the Global Real Estate Institute. He holds a number of honorary doctorate degrees, one in Public Administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he is currently the Chancellor, and another in Law from Igbinedion University. In 2002, Ogunwusi led the Federal Government of Nigeria delegation to Canada that enhanced alliances through a partnership with the government of Ondo State on solid mineral.
On October 26th, 2015, he was selected as the king-elect out of 21 contenders to the Ooni stool to succeed the late Oba Okunade Sijuwade, who died on July 28, 2015. The announcement was made by the Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola. As a prince from the Giesi Family whose turn it was to produce a king, he beat out a number of competitors including his elder brother. Oba Ogunwusi received his Staff of Office from Mr. Aregbesola on Monday December 7th, 2015 at Enuwa Square, Ile-Ife in the presence of several dignitaries from all walks of life, including the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. The new king promised to unite the Yorubas under a peaceful and prosperous reign.
Since his coronation, the king has made news for a number of notable actions and pronouncements including the promise not to re-litigate supremacy battles with other Yoruba kings. On January 17th, 2016, the Ooni broke a 79-year-old antagonism between the thrones of Ife and Oyo by visiting the Alaafin, the first of such visits in eight decades by an Ife monarch. He has instituted a number of progressive causes in Ile-Ife, including a cocoa farm meant to feed thousands of widows in the state.
Oba Ogunwusi is a renowned philanthropist who is relentless in his commitment to humanity and a tireless advocate for the less privileged; he has granted support over the years through the House of Oduduwa Foundation and recently through Hopes Alive Initiative.
Ooni Ogunwusi He has a daughter, Adeola Aanuoluwapo Ogunwusi, born in Ibadan, in May 1994, to Omolara Olatubosun with whom he has been a co-parent. He was married from 2008 to 2016 to Adebukunola Bombata. He is now currently married to Wuraola Zynab Otiti, a marriage reportedly arranged by the Oracle. The wedding took place in Benin City while the reception held in Ile-Ife.
He is a multiple award winner for his ability to call for peace and unity across the nation. On June 12th, 2016, the Ooni was presented with the key of the City of Sumerset, Franklin Township in New Jersey and honoured with the proclamation of the town of Franklin alongside his wife, Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi, the Yeyelua.
