Ruth was raised in Ajegunle, Lagos. She attended First Foundation College and Yaba College of Technology where she studied Business Administration. She further attended the University of Lagos where she studied Mass Communication.

Ruth Kadiri Career

Ruth has stated in numerous interviews that her love and interest for cinematography came to her at a very early age. She began writing while she was in secondary school. As a matter of fact, Ruth used to pay more attention to writing than acting.

But she soon discovered that both things go hand in hand, as during her first audition at Wale Adenuga Studios she met Victor Eze, the owner of a writing school. Ruth decided to perfect her writing skills and attended the school. After that, she wrote her first script titled ‘Wild and Dirty’, which kick-started her career as a screenwriter. Soon, she also started acting in the movies she had written, and things went on from there.

The movie that shot her into stardom was Boy’s Cot, where she starred alongside renowned stars, such as Nonso Diobi, Uche Jombo, Jim Iyke and Mike Ezuruonye. Since then, Ruth has appeared in over 50 movies, many of which she wrote herself. She is also a producer and screenwriter. During her years in Nollywood, she has written, produced and starred in many movies.

In addition to being a gifted writer and actress, Ruth is also a philanthropist. A year or so ago she launched her own foundation called Ruth Kadiri Kids. The aim of the foundation is to help the underprivileged children to achieve their goals and dreams through financial donations and inspirational lectures. Ruth herself said that it was very important for her to give back to kids and help them in their development. For her, the best thing she can wish for is to see children smile.
