Carol Eferamor King (Nee Adoghe) also known as CK1 was born on July 24th 1963 in Lagos, Nigeria to Edo-born parents. She is is a Nigerian actress, thespian and presenter.

Carol King Early Life

Carol grew up in a large but closely knit family. Her father was a policeman and this meant they moved from place to place in Nigeria and this afforded her the opportunity of learning some local dialects amongst which are Yoruba and Hausa. Being the first child, she learnt the meaning of responsibility at a very early age.

Carol attended St. Theresa’s primary school, Marine Beach Lagos and because of her extra-ordinary brilliance was encouraged to sit for the entrance examination into secondary school by her parents when she was in primary five, she passed and was admitted into the then Awori Comprehensive High School also in Lagos. She got a diploma in insurance from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Bachelors degree in Christian Religious studies from the Lagos State University. Although her father would have liked her to be a lawyer, she developed a love for the arts from watching series like Cock crow at dawn, Hotel de Jordan, Behind the clouds, Zorro, Tales of the unexpected and others.


Carol King Career

In 1999, Carol joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) and auditioned for a radio drama titled “I Need To Know” before she went on to become a household name after her role in the popular television series “Everyday People” a television drama that brought her to limelight. She is best known for her role as “Jumoke” in the popular television series “Everyday People” and also popularly known for her motherly role in television drama and Nollywood movies.

She has starred in several stage plays, dramas, television soap operas and Nollywood movies which include The Gods Are Still Not To Blame, Dazzling Mirage, I Need To Know, Everyday People, Tinsel, Edge of Paradise, Blaze of Glory, Eko Law, Emerald, Journey To Self, North East For Colored Girls, Journey To Self, For Colored Girls, Prison Chronicles, The Wives, etc. In recognition for her role in the advancement of the Nigerian film industry, Carol King was awarded with the “African Youth Role Model Award” in 2009. She has worked alongside other notable actors like Bimbo Manuel, Olu Jacobs, Akin Lewis, Kate Henshaw, Ireti Doyle, Gabriel Afolayan, Norbert young to mention but a few. 


Carol King Personal Life

After a failed first marriage, Carol is currently married to Captain Kolawole King, a pilot from Isale Eko, a proper Lagos boy, although his mum is British. She has three children, two boys; Ikemefuna Nsolo, Abdulqudus King, and a daughter; Oluwasoladegbin King.

Carol is a movie buff who loves reading, travelling and swimming.
