Illrymz - Olowu Adebola

Olowu Bardia Adebola (popularly known as known llrymz) was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on December 3rd, 1985 to a yoruba father and a Persian mother. He s a Nigerian television host, radio personality, producer, event MC, former model and entrepreneur.

Illrymz was born and bred in Lagos. At the tender age of 3-years-old, he was already a baby model for an American beauty product. He also joined the local church choir and played a leading role in the church drama. He attended the King’s College School in Lagos. He studied Mass Communications in the University of Laos and graduated in 2006. 

Olowu Adebola Career

After studying communications at the University of Lagos, Illrymz made his television debut as the host of Nokia First Chance. The Persian Nigerian has been in the industry for about ten  years. He started off as a model. He made his first million with Coca Cola, when he ran ads for Coke Nigeria. Then he worked for a company named MTech, one of the first value-added companies in Nigeria, then Vibe Weekly, where he started the crazy ringtones, which was his first job and he earned 30k for about three years.

Illrymz worked on a radio commercial for “Gold Circle Condoms” and also got the chance to meet with Emmanuel Essien best known as “Mannie”. He was part of a gospel group called “SOL” which consisted of himself, Mannie and Leo Abulu. He released his first solo single titled “No Mago Mago” produced by Papilastic in the same year. The single topped many music charts in Nigeria. In 2009, he produced and presented the most watched Soundcity program titled “The Nokia Express Music Show”. He re-branded himself as “The Big Homie” and launched his own independent radio show sponsored by Nokia and in 2012, he released his first official single titled “Teacher Teacher” which featured the legendary, Femi Kuti.

Illrymz went on to work for several companies including being the co-host of Soundcity, Nigezie, Star Gist as well as being the host of Nigerian Idols and Coke Studio Radio. Recently, he stepped into the Nollywood scene briefly, he runs a new club, 1089 and is the CEO of his media creative content company and he created a news page on Instagram called Selfienews. Illrymz also works for BET Africa where he has interviewed the likes of Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Illrymz is not yet married. When asked if marriage was still a long time for him, he said; "Yes, it is. I’m a young man and I’ve got time. When I’m chasing a grounding-break­ing business, I give it my whole time." His favourite food is amala.
