At 7, her father, a senior medical consultant and mother, a storybook author, moved to London where she spent most of her childhood, adolescent and adult years.

When they noticed she had a  gift, she was encouraged a lot by her parents. As a child, they always bought her books and cassettes or CDs and encouraged her to share her gift with the world.

Growing up, she listened to the likes of  King Sunny Ade, Fela, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Sade, Jimmy Hendrix, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.

She attended an all-girls convent school and has a degree in Communications and Media Studies from the Brunel University in the UK.

She is a Nigerian Opera singer, Songwriter, Composer and Performance artist, who is the first to have written the world's first ever Pidgin English opera which was presented in London in July 2015. The Opera was inspired by Wagner's Parsifal, and is titled, 'Song Queen: A Pidgin Opera', introducing traditional African instruments such as the Kora and including the Talking drums and Djembes for percussion while still keeping the strings across the opera lines.

She was initially a rapper but became interested in more politically aware singers such as Fela Kuti and Miriam Makeba. She started getting really inspired to become a performer from dancing and singing competitions with her siblings.

She began music professionally when she was 11 years old as that was her first paid performance at her mother’s friend’s wedding.

Helen Parker-Jayne Isibor describes her genre of her music as Afro Folklore and considers it a reflection of herself and her experiences.

In 2008, she orchestrated the world’s first ever ‘hang flash gig’ at the Lovebox festival which was broadcast on Channel 4 and in the summer of 2012, she found herself playing percussion for Sir Paul McCartney which she says was a 'huge and surprise blessing that came out of nowhere'

She has performed with Sir Paul McCartney, Miley Cyrus and composed music for some of the world’s biggest brands such as Sony, Christian Dior, Disney and the BBC to name a few. She  also created music for the World Health Organisation’s international anti ebola-campaign, HRH Prince of Wales as well as films and television programmes.

Helen has become known for her captivating and trance inducing live sets, immersive performance-art shows and impromptu sound journey displays in unusual spaces.

She owns a fashion line called The Venus Bushfires which debuted in February 2013.
