Raoul John Njeng-Njeng popularly known as Skales is a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter born on 1st April 1991 in Kaduna state, Nigeria. He is the only Child of his family and hails from Edo State.

Skales grew up in Kaduna which was where he had his Primary and Secondary Education. He attended Lead City University where he graduated with a degree in Office Management and Technology prior to this though, he was a student of the University of Jos.

Raised by a single mother, his interest in music became honed while managing his mother's cassette store when he was younger.

The expression of Skales talent came in 2000 which was when he started writing rap songs, eventually he met Jeremiah Gyang and Jesse Jagz while he was at the University of Jos and with them, his love for music was sustained.

In 2008, he entered and won the Zain True Search Competition for the North Central region while he was still at the University of Jos and soon released "Must Shine" as his debut single. "Must Shine" went on to become one of Rhythm FM’s Top 7 Jamz at 7 in Lagos for some weeks and 'Song of the Week’ on Rhythm FM in Jos and Abuja. In 2009, he released “Heading for a Grammy” which was inspired by Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks”.

In 2009, he signed a record deal with Banky W's Empire Mate Entertainment (EME) after relocating to Lagos, releasing the singles, “Mukulu” and “Keresimesi” which were both produced by Sarz with visuals by Clarence Peters under the imprint.

In 2012, Skales was one of the main acts on E.M.E’s debut compilation album, Empire Mate State of Mind collaborating with the likes of Banky W., Wizkid, Shaydee, Niyola and DJ Xclusive.

He left EME in 2014 following the expiration of his four years contract, establishing his own record label, OHK Music with debut album, “Man of the Year” in 2015. "Shake Body" was one of the tracks off the album and it enjoyed massive airplay. OHK music is now home to acts like producer Drey Beatz. In 2017, he released his most recent album, "Never say never guy"

Skales has recorded over 200 songs since his debut with hits like “Shake Body”, “Mukulu”, “Keresimesi”, “Komole”, “My Baby”, “Take Care of Me” and “Denge Pose”. He has performed with international and local A- list artists including eLDee, Jeremiah Gyang, Banky W, Nicki Mina and Knighthouse.

Music has taken Skales to different parts of the world on tours and shows including EME US Tour, which kicked off on 4th July 2012 and ended on 2nd September 2012 where he performed alongside other E.M.E acts in cities like Houston, , Toronto, Vancouver, Dallas, New York City, Providence, Washington DC , Calgary, Atlanta and Chicago. He also performed at the 2013 edition of Felabration which is a yearly concert dedicated to the late Fela Kuti.
