Segun Arinze

Segun Padonou Aina (known as Segun Arinze) was born on September 24th, 1965 in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. His father is of the Yoruba tribe from Badagry, Lagos State, while his mother is of the Igbo tribe. Segun is a Nigerian actor, producer, director, voice over artist and singer.

Segun Arinze Early Life

Segun grew up in his maternal home of Onitsha. He had his primary education there and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. Thereafter, he proceeded to Victory College of Commerce in Ilorin, Kwara State for his secondary education. He however completed it at Taba Commercial College in Kaduna State. He studied Dramatic Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University and obtained a BA.

Segun Arinze Career

Segun began his career in 1992 as a musician. His debut album was titled, Dreams. He began acting while in Ilorin. He gained the nickname 'Black Arrow' after featuring in a movie with the same name. He has since featured in several movies including; 30 Days, Extra Time, Women in Love, Anini, Darkest Night, Across the Niger, Church Business, To Love a Thief, Fragile Pain, Silent Night, Family on Fire, A Place in the Stars, Invasion 1897 and An eye for an eye.

Segun Arinze was the former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). He currently works as an actor coach with African international film festival. He also works as an entertainment consultant and voice over artist.

Segun was until his divorce in 2010, married to fellow Nollywood star, Ann Njemanze. They had a daughter named Renny. After his divorce, he got married to Julie Arinze with whom he has three children - two boys and a girl.
