Honourable Emmanuel Bartholomew Ekon (Sr) was born on October 7th, 1971 to the Bartholomew Ekon's family of Iwukem in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He is an entrepreneur and politician currently represents Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State in the House of Representatives.

Honourable Emmanuel grew up under a humble and strict parental care which helped to mould his character for a successful adulthood. He began his educational career at St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Iwukem where he obtained the First School Leaving Certificate in 1982. For his secondary education, he attended Regina Coeli Secondary School and completed in 1990. From there he proceeded to the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) in Akwa Ibom State to study Statistics and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in 2000.

Honourable Emmanuel is an accomplished entrepreneur of international status was the President/CEO of Outreach Medical Services, USA as well as the CEO of E&E Consultancy Nigeria Limited. The strong urge to be a servant of his people found him drawn into the turbulent water of Nigerian politics. He realized that the resources he was making from his private enterprise in the USA and Nigeria could not alleviate the plight of his people who were everyday looking up to him for succor, leadership and guidance. Translating these dreams into reality was therefore a serious business. 

He was elected on April 9th, 2011 on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State in the House of Representatives. A member of the following Committees: Petroleum (Downstream), Army, Aviation, Navy, Solid Minerals, Niger Delta, Local Contents, Loans & Debt, Honorable Emmanuel Ekon has set a target to make a difference in his style of representation. His contributions on the floor of the Assembly are people oriented and always well received. They include: Arbitrary air fares charged by international airlines operating in Nigeria; Need to provide Biometric Data Capture Machines at the Airports among others.
