Hon. Evelyn Omavowan

Hon. Evelyn Oboro Omavowan was born on December 24th, 1971. She is an indigene of Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. She is the member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Opke/Sapele/Uvwie Constituency.

Hon. Evelyn attended Alegbo Secondary School in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State and graduated in 1988 with the West African Senior School Certificate (WASC). She proceeded to the Delta State University where she studied Education and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 1997. In 2002, she obtained a Master's degree in Public Administration from the Delta State University and a degree in Law (LLB) in 2009 from the same institution.

From 1999 to 2002, Hon. Evelyn served as a Councillor in Delta State. In 2004, she was elected Uvwie Local Government Chairman and held the position until 2007. In 2008 she was appointed a member of the Universal Basic Education (UBE) in Delta state. In 2010, she was appointed into the Delta State Waste Management Board.

In 2011, Hon. Evelyn was elected under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Opke/Sapele/Uvwie Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives. She was re-elected in 2015. From May 2011 to 2015, she served in the following committees; Anti-Corruption, Inter-Parliamentary Relations, Women Affairs & Social Development, House Services and Niger Delta Development Commission. Since May 2015, she has been the Chairman of the House Committee on Women in Parliament and member of the Millennium Development Goals Committee. She legislative interests are youth empowerment and capacity building.

Hon. Evelyn is married and blessed with children. She is a philanthropist and runs an NGO by name Evelyn Oboro Foundation which has empowered several women, youths, the elderly and children.
