Hon. Gabriel Onyenwife

Hon. Gabriel Okoye Onyenwife was born in 1967. He hails from Ifite-Ogwari in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. He is a lawyer and politician who currently represents Oyi/Ayamelum Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.

Hon. Gabriel Onyenwife Early Life

Hon. Onyenwife attended Community Boys Secondary School in Ifite-Ogwari, Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State where he obtained his West African Senior Certificate in 1984. In 2000, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B) from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka in Enugu State. He further attended the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, Abuja and was called to bar in 2002.

Hon. Onyenwife has worked in several sectors such as farming, education (as a teacher) and in the judiciary as a legal practitioner. In 2007, he got elected into the Anambra State House of Assembly where he served two terms until 2015. In the House, he was the chairman of the committee on public accounts (2007-2011), vice chairman committee on finance and appropriation (2007-2015), member committee on judiciary, public utilities, works, petroleum, local government & chieftaincy affairs and science & technology. 

In 2015, Hon. Onyenwife was elected into the Federal House of Representatives to represent Oyi/Ayamelum Constituency under the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). In the House, he serves in the committee overseeing the Freedom of Information Act (FOI). His legislative interests include ensuring public accountability through effective budget system and oversight monitoring, rural development and adherence to constitutionalism. His target achievement is geared towards ensuring that his constituency is aptly represented in the affairs of the Nation.
