Hon. Daniel Effiong

Hon. Effiong Asuquo Daniel was born on May 29th, 1962 into the family of Ntufam Asuquo Ukpong Eru and Evangelist (Mrs.) Comfort Asuquo of Akamkpa Town in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. He belongs to a royal family. Hon. Daniel is a financial expert, businessman and politician. He currently represents Akamkpa/Biase Constituency of Cross River State in the Federal House of Representatives.

Hon. Effiong attended St Louis Primary School in Kano, Kano State where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC). He enrolled at Federal Government College, Kano for his secondary education. He however completed his secondary education at Hope Waddell Training Institution (HWTI) in Calabar, Cross River State. At Hope Waddell he sat and passed the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) in 1978. He proceeded to the University of Calabar, Cross River State where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Banking & Finance in 1998. He also attended the Cross River College of Education and graduated in 1997 

Hon. Daniel Effiong Career

As a politician, Hon. Daniel served as Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Area from 1999 to 2002. From to 2008 to 2010, he served as the Director of the Cross River State Electrification Agency. In 2011, he contested and won the seat to represent Akamkpa/Biase Constituency at the House of Assembly.  He is a member of the People’s Democratic Party

From May 2011 to May 2015, Hon. Daniel served in the following House Committees; Power, Federal Character, Land Transport, Marine Safety, Education & Administration, Niger Delta Development, and Legislative Budget & Research.

In 2015, he was re-elected for a second term. He is currently the Chairman of the House Committee on Power. His legislative interests include the autonomy of ties of Government transportation in public accounts & expenditure, and building.
