Hon. Joan Mrakpor

Hon. Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor was born on July 7th, 1966. She is an indigene of Ubulu Ukwu in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. She is a Television Evangelist and Honourable Member representing Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Oshimili South and Oshimili North Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.

Hon. Mrakpor grew up in her hometown of Ubulu Ukwu where she had her primary education at Ubulu Primary School and graduated in 1976 with a First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC). She proceeded to Itohan Grammar School in Benin City, Edo State and obtained the West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC) in 1982. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Jos, Plateau State, in 1992. She proceeded to the Nigerian Institute of Journalism where she obtained a diploma in 1994. She also attended several institutions abroad such as University of Manchester, UK; Thames Valley University, UK; University of California, USA; School of Parliamentary Studies, London; and Oxford University, UK.

Hon. Joan Mrakpor Career

Prior to joining politics, Hon. Joan worked in the following capacities; Pilot Licensing Officer, Nigeria Civil Aviation, Ikeja Airport, Lagos; Insurance Marketing Officer, Bidac Insurance Broker Lagos; and Public Relations Officer, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN). She was also a Personal Assistant to BSC Elue, Former Deputy Governor of Delta State and Director, Delta State Building Societies Delta. She was also appointed a Commissioner of Local Government Service Commission in Delta State.

In 2007, Hon.Joan was elected into the Delta State House of Assembly to represent Aniocha South Local Government Area and was re-elected in 2011. In 2015, she was elected to represent Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Oshimili South and Oshimili North Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives. She is a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). She is a member of the Science and Technology Committee and works to enact people oriented laws.

Hon. Mrakpor is married to Barrister Peter Mrakpor, a lawyer and current Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice. The union is blessed with five children. She is a devote Christian and Television Evangelist.
