Simon spent his early days in Jos. He feel in love with football when he was 8 years old. He began his youth career at GBS Academy, a renowned football academy in Jos which helps young players turn pro. He spent the better part of 10 years before catching the eye of Dutch giants Ajax, who fought off competition from Liverpool and Tottenham to secure the winger.

Despite making pre-season and reserve team appearances for Ajax and Jong Ajax (the reserve side), Simon wasn’t offered a senior contract by the four-time European champions, and in January 2014, he joined their partner club, Slovakian side AS Trencin. He made his Trencin debut against MFK Kosice in a 1-1 draw, and he made his maiden UEFA Europa League appearance in the summer of 2014, where he scored a hatrick for Trencin in a Second Qualifying Round game against Serbians FK Vojvodina Novi Sad. After 12 months with the Slovaks, where he scored 13 league goals in 33 games, Simon was snapped up by Belgian club KAA Gent in January 2015, and he helped the club to the Jupiler League title (the domestic championship) and the Belgian Super Cup that same year.

He was also part of the side that unexpectedly made it to the knockout round of the 2015-16 UEFA Champions League, beating the likes of Olympique Lyon, Valencia and Zenit St. Petersburg on the way, before being eliminated by German side Wolfsburg.

Moses Simon has been in the Nigeria Super Eagles setup since March 2015, when he got his first call-up from Daniel Amokachi and appeared in a friendly against Uganda. He scored his first goal for the three-time African champions in September 2015, in a 2-0 victory over Niger and was in the 35-man provisional squad for the 2016 summer Olympics in Rio, although he didn’t make the final cut. In 100 apperances for his clubsides, Simon has scored 27 goals and 4 goals in 17 appearnces with the Super Eagles.

Simon is modest and deeply religious. He enjoys a close relationship with his father, who gave him the nickname, Daddy, something that has stuck with him in Belgium and among his teeming fans. He married his fiancee, Ibukun Sarah Adenuga, in a traditional wedding ceremony on Tuesday, December 29 in Ibadan, Oyo state. As of 2018, Moses has an estimated net worth of around $2 million. He has an endorsement deal with Nike through which he may earn good sum. His current market value is $6.16 million.
