Shehu Abdullahi was born in Sokoto, Sokoto State, Nigeria on March 12th, 1993. He is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for Turkish side Bursaspor and the Nigerian national team.He has a beautiful sister named,Bambinibamb, a London-based writer. In November 2015, Abdullahi lost his father after a brief illness while he was in Swaziland for 2018 World Cup qualifier. Shehu Abdullahi was at the National Stadium in Abuja when he was informed of his father’s passing in their hometown of Sokoto. He often credits his father for the success of his career.

Shehu Abdullahi Early Life

Abdullahi spent his early days in Sokoto and Kano, both Northern cities in Nigeria. He began his career with the youth team of Plateau United and played until 2012. On January 1, 2012, he joined the Kano Pillars and left in 2014. He started as a midfielder, but was converted you to the right back position by the U-20 national team coach, John Obuh.

In July 2014, Abdullahi moved from Kano Pillars to Kuwaiti Premier League side Qadsia SC in a deal worth $480,000, of which Abdullahi received $330,000 and Kano Pillars $150,000. On 6 June 2015, he joined newly promoted Primeira Liga side C.F. União on a two-year deal. He scored 1 goal in 28 appearances before leaving the club in 2016. He signed a two-year contract with Anorthosis Famagusta in September 2016. Before ending his career in the team, he scored 3 goals in 48 appearances. On January 24, 2018, Abdullahi joined the Bursaspor with the transfer fee of €300,000.  He is the agent of MITM Sports SPRL.

Abdullahi began his international career with the Nigeria U-20 in 2012. For the team, he played 21 matches until 2013 and also played 9 games for the U-23 national team. At the age of 20, Abdullahi earned his senior cap under the coach Stephen Keshi on January 11, 2014. So far, he has earned 12 caps since 2014. He was called up for 2014 African Nations Championship. In 2015, he won the bronze medal with the Migeria Footbal Team at the African Games in Brazzaville, the Republic of the Congo. Abdullahi made his Olympic debut on August 5, 2016, under the coach Samson Siasia. Along with his Olympic team, he played in 5 matches and won the bronze medal with the team. He was instrumental in the Super Eagles' battle to the 2018 World Cup qualification in Russia winning the Man of the Match award at the October 2017 game against Zambia in Uyo. His assist for the goal by Alex Iwobi won the team the ticket to Russia.

Abdullahi is a Muslim and says he relaxes by the reading Quran and listening to Quran audio. He also enjoys the play station game. He is happily married to Sumayya Mustapha, who owns a beauty store and fashion brand in Sokoto. The couple is blessed with a son.  His wife graduated from the Blue Crescent School and attended the Danfodio University of Public Administration. The couple first met through a mutual friend. Abdullahi got her number and they started to have a conversation. They began dating after a couple of months.
