A native of Kogi state, Gbenro was born in Maidugiri, but grew up in Benue state. He is the fourth child born into a family six children including Jude Ige Ajibade. He attended Makurdi International School and later Mount Saint Gabriels Secondary School. He got a degree in Biology Education from Benue State University.

Gbenro started his acting career as Soji in "Tinsel" in the year 2007. His other movies include "Shattered Romance," "Gbomo Gbomo Express" among others.
