Godman grew up with his family in Ibadan Oyo state. Between 1985 and 1990, he had his secondary education at Government College, Ibadan. Between 1992 and 1997, he studied Mining and Mineral Engineering at the Federal University, Akure, Ondo state, graduating with a B.Tech. He obtained his master's degree in International Diplomacy at the University of Lagos and an MBA from the Manchester Business School, England.

Akinlabi is the lead pastor of The Elevation Church (TEC) Lagos where he has a God-given mandate to Make Greatness Common. TEC started under its leadership on October 10th, 2010 and it has been growing steadily since. A seasoned and highly sought after speaker, trainer and consultant, he has taught and inspired people in conferences and churches around the world. He is particularly driven to speak about the role of the church in the development of the African continent.

Along with serving as a pastor for over 20 years, Godman is an ardent scholar and holds a bachelors degree in Mining Engineering (FUTA), a masters degrees in International Law and Diplomacy (UNILAG) and an MBA from Manchester Business School. Some of his critically acclaimed books include Sexuality: Get a Grip (Singles), Sexuality Get a Grip (Couples) and the 7 Commandments of Foolishness.
