Obafemi Anibaba Early Life

Anibaba grew up in Lagos where he had his education up to th tertiary level. Between 1952 and 1959, he attended St. John School, Aroloya, for his primary school. After that, he moved over to the popular CMS Grammar School, Bariga, where he studied from 1960 to 1966. From 1967 to 1970, he had his undergraduate studies at the University of Lagos, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He obtained a Master's degree in 1971 from the University of Ibadan. He also obtained his in Engineering from the University of Surrey where he studied between 1971 and 1975.

Obafemi Anibaba Career

Prior to working as a minister of works in Nigeria, Anibaba srved in various industries. Some of them include; General Manager Lagos State Brewery, Agbowa, (1980 to 1982), Director Jos Steel Rolling Mills (1984 to 1985), Managing Director, Femo Industry Nigeria Limited and Femo Engineering Nigeria Limited. He is also a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria.

In March 2006, Nigeria's president, Olusegun Obasanjo, appointed Dr. Obafemi as minister to represent Lagos State in the Federal Executive Council. He was later given the ministry of works portfolio. In September 2006, he was moved to the ministry of communications where he replaced Cornelius Adebayo as minister. He finally left the ministerial position in January 2007 after he was replaced by Frank Nweke Jnr.

Dr. Obafemi got married to his wife, Aderonke Agbeke Adebanjo, in 1974. He loves squash and table tennis, and lives in Festac Town, Lagos.
