Yahaya Maikori hails from Kwoi in Jaba local government area of Kaduna State, Nigeria. He is a lawyer, entertainment entrepreneur and activist. He is a Senior Partner at Law Allianz, a law firm he co-founded with his brother, Audu Maikori. He is also an executive at Chocolate City Nigeria, a record label he also co-founded with Audu.

Yahaya was raised in Lagos where he had his basic and secondary education. From 1989 to 1992 he was at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife in Osun State where he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB). In 1992, he attended the Nigeria Law School, Lagos and was called to the Nigerian bar in 1993. He obtained a Master's degree in Law in 2010 from the University of London.
Yahaya began his career as legal advisor to ASO Savings & Loans. Thereafter, he worked as the company secretary for First Alliance Pension and Benefits. In 2002, he started Law Allianz with Audu Maikori, his younger brother. The firm focused on intellectual property law, and later on became one of the brains behind the lobby for NCC to empower songwriters and performers to collect royalties on their works. In 2005, he became one of the founding directors of the record label Chocolate City based in Nigeria in 2005 with his brother Audu Maikori and business partner Paul Okeugo.As an entertainment lawyer, he is on the entertainment committee of the Nigerian Bar Association.
His brother, Audu Maikori, is an Abuja based legal practioner.
