Hon. Toby Okechukwu

Hon Toby Okey Okechukwu was born on August 3rd, 1962 to Chief & Mrs. A. C. Okechukwu. He is an indigene of Ugbo in Agwu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria. He is a legal practitioner and member of the Federal House of Representatives of the National Assembly who represents Aninri, Awgu, and Oji River Federal Constituency of Enugu State.

Hon. Toby began his education at Community Primary School Ngene-Ugbo, Agwu Local Government Area of Enugu State. He graduated in 1976 with First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC). He immediately proceeded to St. Vincent's Secondary School Agbogugu, Agwu Local Government Area of Enugu State. He obtained a General Certificate of Education (GCE) in 1981. In 1982 he enrolled at University of Calabar in Cross River State and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering in 1986. From 1988 to 1991 he studied at Anambra State University of Technology where he obtained an MBA. In 1994 he began studying Law at the University of Lagos and graduated with a Bachelor's degree (LLB) in 2000. He proceeded to the Nigerian Law School in Victoria Island, Lagos and was called to bar in 2001.

Hon. Toby had his National Youth Service (NYSC) in Ogun State from 1986 to 1987. He thereafter worked as General Manager at Funstai Engineering Co Ltd. He was appointed adviser to the deputy president of Senate. He also served as Chairman, National Lottery Trust Fund. He was also the Chief Executive Officer of Tovic & P Nigeria Ltd. 

In 2011, Hon Toby was elected under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Aninri/Agwu/Oji-uzo at the Federal House of Representatives. During that period, he was Vice-Chairman at Ethics & Privileges Committee. He was also a member of the following committees; Culture & Tourism, Justice, Steel, Pension, and Appropriations. Hon Toby was re-elected in 2015. He is currently the Chairman at Works Committee. His legislative interests include; appropriation, judiciary, development and sustainable democracy.
