About Kwali Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Kwali local government area is in the Federal Capital territory of Nigeria. The headquarters of the area are in the town of Kwali and the LGA comprises of several towns and villages such as Wako, Yangoji, Kundu, Kwali, Gumbo, Ashara, Kwali, Pai, and Kilankwa. The estimated population of Kwali LGA is put at 170,446 inhabitants with the area hosting members of diverse ethnic affiliations. The language of Hausa is commonly spoken in the area with the religions of Islam and Christianity widely practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Kwali LGA include the Federal Government College Kwali and the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Center.

Kwali LGA sits on a total area of 1,206 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 29 degrees centigrade. The total precipitation in the area is put at 1350 mm of rainfall per annum while the average wind speed in the LGA is estimated to be around 10 km/h.


ECONOMY OF KWALI

Kwali LGA is home to a booming pottery business and serves as a means of livelihood for a substantial percentage of the LGA’s inhabitants. Textile making is another key economic activity in Kwali LGA. Also, Farming and trade boom in Kwali LGA with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops and also hosting a number of markets.

Kwali LGA was created on the 1st of October 1996.
