Field Sales Representatives Are Responsible For Selling Products, Services And Solutions To Clients Within A Specified Geographic Territory.

Also Called Outside Sales Representatives, These Professionals Are Distinguished From Inside Or General Sales Representatives By Their Requirement To Travel To Prospect Locations To Establish Leads, Introduce Products Or Maintain The Relationship Of An Existing Customer Account.

As A Field Sales Representative, Once You Have Secured A Client Deal, You Will Ensure Customer Satisfaction By Assisting With Training And Installation, And Managing The Relationship Of The Client With Your Company Or Manufacturer.

Field Sales Rep Duties/Functions/Responsibilities

  • manage sales-productivity software tools to effectively track selling activities
  • manage contact information for sales prospects and existing clients
  • schedule visits or meetings with clients within your sales territory
  • work onsite at prospect sites delivering sales presentations and collecting information about the client to assist in the development of marketing plans and sales strategies to increase your chances of completing a sale
  • maintain a regular calling or contact schedule with companies to identify more leads or resolve any problems that arise in existing client accounts
  • Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors.
  • Adjusts content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet or trade factor.
  • Focuses sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of dealers.
  • Submits orders by referring to price lists and product literature.
  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
  • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
  • Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Provides historical records by maintaining records on area and customer sales.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
