Senator Usman Nafada Bayero was born on January 01, 1961 in Nafada, Gombe State. He was the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and currently represents Gombe North Senatorial District since 2015.

Nafada Bayero Early Life

Bayero completed his primary education at Nafada Central Primary School in 1978 and then proceeded to Government Teachers' College Gombe where he obtained his Teachers' Certificate in 1984. He then obtained a degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri in 1993.

Nafada Bayero Career

Bayero Nafada is professionally an Accountant and previously held the position of Assistant State Auditor of Gombe State.

He was a member of the Gombe State House of Assembly on the ticket of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) from 1999 until 2003, and held the post of Speaker starting in June of that term.

Nafada was elected to the Federal House of Representatives in 2003 as an ANPP candidate for Dukku/Nafada, but switched to PDP membership when his state began to vote that way.

He was re-elected to the Federal House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2007 and thereafter was elected unopposed a Deputy Speaker of the house following the resignation of Babangida Nguroje amid the Patricia Etteh corruption scandal.

He was successfully re-elected for the third term in the 2011 general elections and still maintained his Deputy Speaker position on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

In 2015, Nafada Bayero took his political aspirations higher by contesting for the Gombe North Senatorial position, this time on the platform of the All Progressives Congress which he had defected to. He emerged the winner of the elections for Gombe North, hence the Senator representing the district.

He is the Chairman Senate Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Affairs as well as the Vice-Chairman Senate Committee on Interior Affairs.
