Ijeoma hails from Owerri, Imo state. She is the first child of her parents, from a Catholic home. She spent much of her childhood in Abia state where she attended Ninlan Demonstration Secondary School Aba (1994-1996), and Abia State Senior Science School Ihie (1997-1999). She had her undergraduate studies at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri where she studied Chemical Engineering between 2000 and 2005.

In 2006, Laila was hired first as a corp member in one of the top new generation banks in Nigeria. After her NYSC service year, she moved up to being an Executive Assistant with the bank. In 2013, she created her celebrity gossip and entertainment website, LailasBlog.com. Laila created her first blog in 2012 as a prank. She later abandoned that blog in 2013 for Lailasnews.com, which is a Nigerian news site that publishes latest Naija news. The site has grown to become a leading source for all things Naija News since it was founded.

Laila shocked family and friends when she honourably resigned from her bank job as an Assistant Banking Officer, on June 30th, 2016 to focus on blogging. She says she has no regrets whatsoever after leaving. She appeared on Channels TV’s Rubbin Minds with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu to discuss the major highlights of year 2016.

She is also known for breaking some of the biggest stories in Nigerian celebrity news, take for instance, Toke Makinwa’s secret and surprise wedding to estranged husband Maje Ayida; Don Jazzy and Olamide being reconciled after their Headies 2015 ‘fight’ by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.
