Dr. Ndidi Nnoli-Edozien was born on July 31st, 1972 in Karlsruhe City, Germany to Nigerian parents. She is an entrepreneur and currently the Group Chief, Sustainability & Governance at Dangote Industries Limited. She has several years experience in strategic management, corporate sustainability and responsibility, advisory services, microfinance, rural development, project design and implementation, capacity building, enterprise development, and corporate governance spanning the private sector, public sector and civil society in Africa and Europe.

Ndidi Nnoli-Edozien Early Life

Ndidi grew up in Germany and Lagos. She attended Queen's College in Yaba, Lagos where used to come 22nd out of 24 students in a class. After leaving the college, she earned an admission at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 1991 and obtanied a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Economics and International Relations in 1994. She also earned a Diploma in Catholic Social Teaching.


Ndidi Nnoli-Edozien Career

Dr. Nnoli started her career at FSDH, subsequently founding the SecTrust (Afrinvest) Asset Management Division. She founded the Growing Businesses Foundation in 1999, which serves corporates like Unilever, MTN, Mobil and Citi in building sustainable local economies at the Bottom of the Pyramid. She initiated Rising Tide Africa, which seeks to harness women angel networks, investment and mentoring to transform Africa. In 2006, she obtained a doctorate at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, in the area of “Ownership and Management Structures” with a specific focus on the global applicability of “an African Model of Corporate Governance and Sustainability.

From January 2004 until October 2004, she served as Senior Lecturer of Business Ethics at the Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlanic University. She was the Director, Strategy & Monitoring at the Nigerian Communications Commission from November 2006 to October 2007. In January 2008, she founded the Strategy & Execution Consulting Limited where she served as CEO until February 2017.

Nnoli joined Dangote as the Group Chief Sustainability and Governance Officer in March 2017. Under her leadership, Dangote Cement published its first globally-benchmarked Sustainability Report in 2017. Her mandate is to lead the effort of integrating Sustainability Thinking and Reporting across all Dangote Businesses in Africa. She was previously engaged at the Lagos Business School/Pan-Atlantic University, with responsibility for Public-Private partnerships, as well as teaching Ethics, Sustainability and Social Entrepreneurship. She has served as a nominee Director for the World Bank/IFC since 2012 and serves on a few non-profit boards, including co-chairing the Private Sector Advisory Group on SDGs, initiated by the Presidency in February 2017. 

She has published several Books including "Development is about People, Business is about Ethics" and “Ownership & Management Structures: African Traditional Values applied to Modern Issues of Sustainability & the Corporate Governance Function”. 


Ndidi Nnoli-Edozien Personal Life

Dr. Nnoli is married to Mr. Louis Edozien, a permanent secretary at the Ministry of Power in Nigeria and they have two daughters studying Architecture and Human Ecology. She is fluent in German and conversational French.
