Reanne Weruche Opia was born on April 11th, 1988 in Nigeria. She is a UK Based actor and founder of Jesus Junkie™ Clothing.

Opia grew up in Nigeria before moving to the UK where she obtained a Bachelor Degree in Drama and Sociology from the University of the West of England.


Weruche Opia Career

After her undergraduate studies, Opia decided to go into acting and movie production. She made her professional acting debut in 2010 when she appeared on the hit UK police drama “The Bill” and then went on to claim roles in a number of theatre productions at The Shakespeare Globe, National Theatre Studios (UK) and Ice and Fire theatre. 

Weruche has been fortunate to be able to work in both the UK and Nigeria. In September 2010, she returned to Nigeria, where she was born and raised, for a year and during her stay, joined Renegade Theatre Company, and led by writer/director Wole Oguntokun. Her time there was spent starring in two of his plays, namely “The Inheritors” and “The Waiting Room”; as well as a number of Wole Soyinka plays, directed by Wole Oguntokun. Weruche also played the role of “Lady in Purple” in the Nigerian adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s prolific choreo-poem “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Iz Not Enuf” alongside some of Nigeria’s acting greats. 

Weruche returned to the UK in 2012, and continued with her acting career. She went on to feature in a number of independent films, theatre productions. She went on to land a role as series regular on the second series of the Award Winning Channel 4 Drama “ Top Boy”; as well as a role in Channel 5 commissioned program “Suspects”.  During a brief trip to Lagos in 2013, she met with producer Yomi Black to star in a comedy skit “The Lagos Big Girl’s Game” which went on to be one of the top 10 most watched Nigerian videos of 2013. 

Weruche has just starred as new season regular “Cleopatra” in the last of BBC Three comedy series “Bad Education” and is currently the lead in Nigerian RomCom “When Love Happens”; currently showing in cinemas all over Nigeria . She is also the founder of Jesus Junkie ™Clothing.

Opia is single and lives in the United Kingdom. Her mother, Ruth Benamaisia Opia, is a broadcaster.
