Chidozie Awaziem

Chidozie Collins Awaziem was born on January 1st, 1997 in Jos, Plateau State North Central Nigeria. His parents are indigenes of Enugu State, Eastern part of Nigeria. Awaziem who plays as a central defender and defensive midfielder for French club FC Nantes on loan from FC Porto and the Nigerian national team.

Growing up in Jos, Awaziem came through the El Kanemi Academy of Jos, who also produced Eagles skipper Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi.

Chidozie Awaziem Career

Awaziem did not play a single level of league football in Nigeria before joining FC Porto in 2014 as he was signed directly from grassroot team El-Kanemi juniors of Jos. After joining Porto, he helped the team's U-19 lift the Juniores title before he was promoted to the reserve team prior to the season.  His senior debuts where made with the B-team, in the Segunda Liga. On 27 January 2016, aged 19, Awaziem appeared in his first competitive game with the main squad, featuring the full 90 minutes in a 0–2 away loss against C.D. Feirense for the Taça da Liga. His maiden appearance in the Primeira Liga took place on 12 February, as he again started in a 2–1 win at S.L. Benfica due to an injury crisis to the defensive sector. In July 2017, FC Nantes announced the signing Awaziem on loan until the end of the 2017/2018 league season.

Aged 19, Awaziem was called up by Nigeria for friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg, on 27 and 31 May 2016. He made his senior debut on 1 June 2017, starting in a 3–0 win over Togo in Paris in another exhibition game.
