Emmanuel Uduaghan Early Life

Uduaghan started his Primary School at Baptist Primary School, Mosogar in Ethiope West local government area offrom 1961 to 1966 before joining Federal Government College Warri (Ogunu) in 1968. Done with secondary school, Uduaghan was admitted into University of Benin to read Medicine. His UNIBEN holidays were spent at the home of one of the children of the aunty who named him Abieba, one who later became Attorney General in Yakubu Gowon’s newly created states in the North after the Biafran War.

Emmanuel Uduaghan Career

Uduaghan had his national service in Kwara state from 1981 to 1982 and was honoured as the most outstanding Corps Doctor in that state. After his service, he took up appointment at the Delta Steel Company (DSC) Medical Centre, Aladja in Delta State, and supplementing his level 10 income with part-time practice at a clinic opposite the Primary School at Oviri Street, Aladja -all in Urhobo land. When Nigeria returned to democratic rule in May 1999, he was appointed Commissioner of Health in Delta State. He was back at the University of Benin in 1985 for a one-year Diploma in Anaesthesia which he obtained in 1986.

By 2007, he presented himself as a candidate for the governorship of Delta on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and won. He was re-elected in April 2011 election for the second term. He was succeeded in May 2015 by Arthur Okowa Ifeanyi.

Emmanuel Uduaghan Personal Life

In 1988, Uduaghan got married to his wife Mrs. Roli Nere Uduaghan at the First Baptist Church, Warri. She is the daughter of Brig. General Sunny E. Tuoyo (Rtd), at one time Military Administrator of Ondo State. The couple has two children, Orode Ryan-Okpu, and Toritseju Uduagahan. On Wednesday February, 20th 2013 in Warri, Delta state, Uduaghan and his wife, renewed their marriage vows after 25 years of marriage.
