Kalu Egbui Ikeagwu was born on May 18th, 1972 in England to a family from Ogbunike, Oyi local ggovernment area of Anambra state.

Kalu Ikeagwu Early Life

Kalu had part of his childhood in England. However, his father, fearing that growing up in England might make Kalu forget his Igbo roots, introduced him to literature and make-believe at the age of four and relocated him to Nigeria at the age of 9. By the time he was ten years of age, he had already lived in four different countries.

He had his primary education in England and Zambia and his secondary education in Nigeria. He graduated in 1991 with a degree in English from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He also did a postgraduate diploma course on Business Management in the same university, and a diploma in Computer programming.


Kalu Ikeagwu Career

Kalu was working as a computer analyst before joining Nollywood. He had the opportunity to appear on his first stage play by Esiaba Ironsi (“Put Out The Houselights”). He has gone on to act in some of Nigeria’s memorable classics, such as Major Lejoka Brown in Ola Rotimi’s, “Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again” and as RIP in Esiaba Irobi’s “Hangmen Also Die”. He went on to perform in various plays at the Edinburgh Festival of 95 and 97.

His first movie was as David Salako in Emem Isong's "For Real." A movie which on completion, Kalu exclaimed that if a danfo (lagos metro bus) were to hit him, he would die with a blissful smile on his face. He has gone on to feature in the movies 30 Days, The Wrong Woman, Distance Between, Between Two Worlds and the just concluded Irish film production Rapt In Eire. Popular TV series include AIT's Domino, 168 and MNET's classic Doctors' Quarters to mention but a few.

Ikeagwu is also a movie producer and a script writer. He has produced several movies in Nigeria and has also featured in Irish film production “Rapt in Éire”. He is popularly known for his role as “Alahji Abubakar” a.k.a. “Masters” in the Nigerian popularly television series “Tinsel”.

On Saturday, June 26th, 2016, Ikeagwu got married to his long time girl friend Ijeoma Eze. Both the traditional and church wedding took place in Enugu State and was attended by top Nollywood celebrities and important dignitaries from the entertainment industry.
