Abinye Jumbo Early Life

Mr 2kay was raised by a single mother after his father died and the family survived by hawking food. He would sing with whatever product he was hawking at the time to attract customers who quickly got enchanted at his talent.

Mr. 2kay got admitted into the University of Port Harcourt to study Visual Arts but had to defer because of financial constraints deciding instead to get a job at the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas company in the hopes of saving up enough money to put him through school, drawing portraits of people and marketing it to them for cash on the sides. He eventually ventured into music when he still couldn't meet up with the funds.

Mr 2kay is a singer and songwriter who came into the spotlight when he featured Timaya in his hit song titled ‘Moniegram’. After getting signed to Grafton record, he released his debut album 'Waterside Boy' in 2011 under the imprint.

In 2012, Mr 2Kay released “Bubugaga” which was his international break out single. The single was reviewed by the Top British main stream daily which rated it as number 4. The Daily Mirror and the UK top music magazine, MixMag also gave it great reviews. The music video for “Bubugaga” was shot in London, UK, directed by Nosa Igbinedion under Grafton Entertainment.

In 2016 he released an EP titled 'Count It All Joy', Following the robery at Eko hotels and suites on November 7, 2017 he released a new single, 'Pray for Me' and and in 2018, he released 'Elevated'

He got a chance to represent the south south Nigeria in the Nigerian carnival Uk tour performance in London and has performed in so many events since then; He performed at Bubugaga Live at the Face-off interview in 2012, Afrobeats London Party at Coronet in 2014, Carniriv Closing Ceremony In 2014, Prestigious London Jazz cafe in 2014 and at all Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) Industry Nite in 2015.

He has worked with top Nigerian musicians like Timaya, Kcee, Duncan Mighty, Chidinma, Iyanya to name a few.

Abinye Jumbo Personal Life

On October 25, 2017, Mr 2Kay was reportedly robbed by four armed men in his hotel room at Eko Hotels and Suites at Victoria Island, Lagos after performing at 2Baba’s Buckwyld and Breathless Concert, left with injuries and totally bound arms and legs, the robbers left with his valuables which include, clothes, jewelry, phones, perfumes, and money. Mr 2kay reportedly filed a 500 million naira lawsuit against the management of Eko Hotels and Suites where the incident happened.
