Hon Okafor obtained Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Banking from the Imo State University in Owerri. He also attended the Enugu State University of Technology Business School and graduated with an FNIM in Banking and Finance.

Hon. John Okafor Career

Prior to joining politics Hon Okafor worked in the banking sector. He worked at All States Trust Bank, Oceanic Bank, and Zenith Bank where he was a member of the senior management staff.

He was a two-time Imo State Commissioner for Finance in Gov. Rochas Okorocha’s cabinet between 2011 and 2014.

In 2015 he was elected into the House of Representatives to represent Okigwe South comprising Ehime Mbano, Ihitte/Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency of Imo State. His legislative interests include finance & banking, and appropriation. He is a member of the Healthcare Services Committee.
