Hon. Hassan had his basic education at Kila Primary School, graduating with a First School Leaving Certificate. He began his secondary education at Kano Igbo Union Grammar School and completed it at Kano Community School. He proceeded to the Barewa College in Zaria, Kaduna State after which he studied at College of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida, USA.

Hon Hassan spent a large part of his career as a controller of customs with the Nigerian Customs Service, Abuja. Thereafter he was an employee of the Kano State Government.

In 2015 he was elected under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to represent Gwaram Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives. His legislative interests cut across customs, agriculture, transport, works and education.
