About Efon Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Efon local government area is in Ekiti state, Southwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Effon-Alaye. A number of towns and villages make up Efon local government area and these include Oro, Irunshin, Agboro, Iwaji, Obake, Orisunbare, Ido Ajegunle, and Alawaye. The Alaaye of Efon is the traditional administrator of the area. The population of Efon LGA is estimated at 104,583 inhabitants with the dominant ethnic affiliation being the Yoruba tribe. The widely spoken language in the area is the Yoruba language while Christianity is the widely practiced religion in the area.


GEOGRAPHY OF EFON

Efon local government area covers a total area of 232 square kilometres with the topography of the LGA consisting of several hills of varying heights. The average temperature of the area is put at 29 degrees centigrade while the average humidity of the LGA is estimated at 60 percent.


ECONOMY OF EFON

Agriculture is the main economic feature of the people of Efon local government area with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as Kolanuts, cocoa, and maize. The trade sector of the Efon local government area is also a critical part of the economic life of the area with the LGA hosting several markets such as the Oka Modern market where a plethora of commodities are bought and sold.
