About Ido / Osi Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Ido osi local government area is domiciled in Ekiti state, Southwest Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Ido. Towns and villages that constitute Ido Osi LGA include Aiyetoro, Orin, Igbole, Ora, Aaye, Ido, Usi, Ilogbo, and Osi. The estimated population of Ido Osi LGA is 106,792 inhabitants with the area dominated by members of the Yoruba ethnic group. The widely spoken language in Ido Osi LGA is Yoruba while themost practiced religions in the area are Christianity and Islam. Prominent traditional rulers in Ido osi LGA include the Olojudo of ido-ekiti while popular festivals held in the area include the Ogangamodu and the Ajodun Omo Ido festivals.  Notable landmarks in Ido Osi LGA include the Federal Medical Center Ido ekiti.


Ido osi LGA falls under the Tropical climate and witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average temperature of the area is 28 degrees centigrade while the humidity level of the LGA is 60 percent.


A number of crops such as cocoa, rice, and cassava are grown in Ido osi LGA. The area also has a vibrant trade sector with markets such as the Ido osi modern market where dwellers of the LGA go to buy and sell a plethora of items found within the area. Other important economic activities in Ido osi LGA include hunting, craftsmanship and the preparation and sale of roots and herbs for medicinal purposes.
