Awe

Awe local government area is found in Nasarawa state, Northcentral Nigeria. The LGA is made up of several towns and villages which include Awe, Abuni, Kanje, Akiri, Kofin moye, Kekura, and Makwangiji. The area is populated by a number of tribes which include the Agatu, Alago, Eggon, Goemai, and Lijili ethnic divisions with each of the constituent tribes speaking their respective languages and/or dialects.

Christianity and Islam are widely practiced in Awe local government area while the area featuring a number of landmarks such as the Dangote Sugar factory in Tunga. Awe LGA also has an illustrious Emirate that oversees the traditional affairs of the area.

GEOGRAPHY OF AWE

Awe has two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average temperature of the area is 30 degrees centigrade while the wind speed of the area is estimated at 9 km/h.

ECONOMY OF AWE

Agriculture is a core economic feature of the Awe local government area with crops such as yam, maize and rice grown in substantially large quantities. Cattle rearing and trade are also key components of the economic life of Awe LGA.
