Gbemi was born and raised in Nigeria. She attended Pampers Private School, Surulere, Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Ojo, and Queens college, Yaba, all in Lagos. She received a BA in mass communication at Oakland University and a master's degree in media and communication from Pan African University in 2009.

Gbemi began her journey into broadcasting in school. She interned at the school radio station in the university (Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan), before moving back to Nigeria for her NYSC. She was a junior reporter at NTA in Victoria Island, Lagos, and got a part time job at CoolFM at the same time as a news editor.

For years, Gbemi has been an on-air-personality with Beat 99.9 FM. She is also presents programmes on Cool presenter, especially known for presenting programmes on radio station Cool FM and on The Beat 99.9 FM. She is the CEO of Gbemisoke shoes where she design shoes for woman who want to be comfortable, stylish and  not trying to break the bank. She is also the ambassador of Soulmate brand.

Responding to allegations of being a rude person, Gbemi had this to say; "I’m just me; maybe I’m not as friendly as people want me to be. I don’t make friends like that. I kind of have to study you first before I welcome you to my ‘inner circle’. I’m just very work-oriented, so I cut out all the small talk in between. I don’t open up to people just like that. I think it’s also because I don’t like the ‘fakeness’. Let’s be honest, Lagos is full of fake people with fake lifestyles and I really don’t have time for that. I also think a lot of artistes think I’m standoffish. I try to be as cordial to everybody in the industry no matter how big or small." She admires Oprah and says she is one of her idols.
