Prof Olusola Adeyeye was born in 1951 in Ila, Osun State. He is a politician and the senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District.

Olusola Adeyeye Early Life

Olusola Adeyeye attended Obokun High School which was then merged with Ilesa Grammar School and obtained his O'Level in 1967 and then proceeded to University College Ibadan, now University of Ibandan and graduated in 1973, while at Ibadan, he was the editor of a students' newspaper.

He became involved with politics in 1978 working for the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and following the election failure of his party's presidential aspirant, Chief Obafemi Awolowo in the 1979 elections, Adeyeye travelled to the United States where he obtianed a Masters degree from the University of Florida  in 1982 and subsequently a Doctorate degree from the University of Georgia, USA in 1986.

Adeyeye later became a Professor of Biology at Duquesne University.


Olusola Adeyeye Career

Senator Adeyeye apart from his career in academia started playing parts in Nigerian politics as early as the late 1970s when he was a supporter and member of Unity Party of Nigeria, Chief Awolowo's party, before leaving the country for the US. 

While in diaspora, Adeyeye was the Secretary-General of the United Democratic Front of Nigeria (UDFN), an overseas organization that promoted a return to democracy in Nigeria.

After returning to Nigeria, Adeyeye was Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government in Osun State. 

He was elected a member of Federal House of Representatives in April 2003, representing Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency, he held the office until April 2007. 

In the 2011 election Adeyeye contested for the Osun Central Senatorial seat and emerged winner, on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), beating Olagunsoye Oyinlola of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), a former governor of the state, who came second.

He contested again in the 2015 elections and was again successful, this time on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC).

Senator Olusola Adeyeye is the Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate.
