Gado Nasko Early Life

Nasko attended Native Authority Junior Primary School, Ibcto from 1947 to 54, Kontagora Senior Primary School 1955-1956, Provincial Secondary School, Bida, 1957-1962, and the Nigerian Military Training College, Kaduna, 1962-1963.

Gado Nasko Career

He was enlisted in the Nigerian Army, 1962 and served in various capacities including Troop Commander and Battery Captain, Battery commander, Commandant School of Artillery, Commander Artillery Regiment, and Military Secretary. He also attended various milliatry schools as part of his training. The include Officer Cadet School of Artillery Larkhill UK, US School of Artillery Fortsill Oklahoma, Staff Gunnery Course at Royal School of Artillery, Larkhill UK, Command and Staff College Jaji, and National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.

In 1978 he was appointed Military Administrator, Sokoto State, until 1979. He promoted Major-General in 1984 and subsequently served as Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Rural Development, and Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. He retired from the army in 1990 after his junior then Major General Salihu Ibrahim was appointed Chief of the Army Staff by President Ibrahim Babangida.

Gado Nasko Personal Life

Nasko married Fatima Tandara in 1969 and a second wife named Rakiya. He has nine children namely; Umar, Hamza, Ibrahim, Abdulazeez, Abubakar, Aminu, Fatima, Zainab, and Maryam. His son, Alhaji Umar Nasko, was a 2015 Niger State governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP).
