About Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Isialangwa north is a local government area situated in Abia state, South-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Okpuala-ngwa with the LGA made up of a number of towns and villages which include Ngwa ukwu, Iheoji, Ama-Asa, Umuoha, Ihie, Amasa-Ntigha, Nsulu, Mbubo, and Umuogele. The estimated population of Isialangwa north LGA is put at 175,884 inhabitants with the area predominantly populated by members of the Ngwa sub-division of the Igbo ethnic group. The Igbo language is commonly spoken in the LGA while Christianity is the most practiced religion in the LGA. A number of colourful festivals are held in Isialangwa north LGA and these include the Umuakwu Nsullu festival.

Isialangwa north LGA covers a total area of 283 square kilometres and has an annual average temperature of 27 degrees centigrade. The average humidity level of the LGA is 65 percent while the average wind speed in the area is 10 km/h.


ECONOMY OF ISIALA NGWA NORTH

Isialangwa north is majorly an agrarian society and has a number of crops cultivated in the LGA. Trade also flourishes in the LGA with the area hosting markets such as the Ariaria and the Ahiaeketa markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold.
