About Maradun Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Maradun local government area is found in Zamfara state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Maradun. The LGA is made up of several towns and villages such as Gora, Namaye, Magami, Tubali, Kayawere, and Tsibiri. The estimated population of Maradun LGA is put at 261,484 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Fulani ethnic group. The Fufulde language is widely spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is commonly practiced in the area. Maradun LGA is home to the Maradun Emirate with the area having some notable landmarks such as the Bakalori Dam.

Maradun LGA covers a total area of 2728 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 35 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average wind speed in Maradun LGA is put at 12 km/h.


ECONOMY OF MARADUN

Maradun local government area is home to large deposits of gold and the area witnesses large scale mining of the mineral. Trade also booms in the LGA with the area hosting several markets where a plethora of commodities are bought and sold. Other important economic activities engaged in by the people of Maradun LGA include farming, cattle rearing, and crafts making.
