About Darazo Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Darazo local government area is found in Bauchi state, Northeast Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Darazo. The LGA comprises several towns and villages which include Jimbim, Gabarin,  Lago, Yautare, Tauya, Wahu, Gabchiyari and Sade. The population of Darazo LGA is put at 159,444 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Hausa ethnic group. The commonly spoken languages in Darazo LGA include Hausa and the Zumbum languages while Islam and Christianity are the widely practiced religions in the area. Popular festivals celebrated in Darazo LGA include the Sharewa cultural festival while the important landmarks in the area include the Darazo General hospital.


GEOGRAPHY OF DARAZO

Darazo LGA sits on a total area of 3,015 square kilometres and witnesses two major seasons each year which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average temperature of Darazo LGA is 32 degrees centigrade while the total annual precipitation level of the area is 1190 mm of rainfall.


ECONOMY OF DARAZO

Farming is the main economic activity in Darazo LGA with a number of crops grown in the area. Other important economic enterprises engaged in by dwellers of the LGA include leather works, pottery, hunting and trade.
