About Ifelodun Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Ifelodun local government area is in Osun state which is domiciled in the Southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Ikirun with the LGA comprising of several towns and villages such as Iba, Eko-Ajala, Obaagun, Oluode, Seke, Fidibomi, Dagbolu, and Ikirun. Ifelodun LGA shares boundaries with the Olorunda, Odo Otin, and Boripe LGAs. The estimated population of Ifelodun LGA is put at 95,774 inhabitants with the most populous tribe in the area being the Yoruba. The Yoruba language is widely spoken in the LGA while Christianity and Islam are the commonly practiced religions in the area.


GEOGRAPHY OF IFELODUN

Ifelodun LGA covers a total area of 114 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The area witnesses two distinct seasons and has an average humidity level of 64 percent. The average wind speed in Ifelodun LGA is 10 km/h.


ECONOMY OF IFELODUN

Farming is one of the major occupations of the people of Ifelodun LGA with crops such as kolanut, oil palms and a variety of fruits grown in the area. The LGA also has a booming trade sector as it hosts a number of markets such as the Saturday market in Ikirun where a variety of commodities are bought and sold.
